IPF Stiff Knee Sleeve Ban Starts January 1, 2027
The IPF has confirmed it: stiff knee sleeves are out. Starting January 1, 2027, seven sleeve listings lose their approval for IPF-sanctioned national and international competition. The IPF re-issued the notice on October 14, 2026, and national technical chairs are responsible for enforcing it.
Which sleeves are affected
INZER ErgoPro and ErgoPro "Kona" (IPF ID 270)
Titan Knee Sleeves (TKS) 7mm (IPF ID 127)
ONI Knee Sleeve Pro (IPF ID 113)
Strength Shop 7mm Inferno PRO Extra Stiff Black (IPF ID 221-1)
Fortex 7mm Extra Stiff (IPF ID 205)
A7 Hourglass Rigor Mortis (IPF ID 100)
Stoic Heavy Knee Sleeve (IPF ID 73)
All seven are still legal through December 31, 2026. If you have a meet before the new year, you can compete in them. Lifters doing 2027 nationals, switch yesterday.
What this means for your training
Don't wait until meet week. Switch to compliant sleeves ASAP.
Expect your squat to feel different. Stiff sleeves add a good amount of rebound out of the hole. Adjust your expectations your first block using softs. Plan for top sets to be a bit lighter in absolute load with the same RPE.
Check the approved list. Confirm your replacement pair is on the IPF approved list before you buy.
